Periodicals

Periodicals of the past serve as one of the most important sources for researchers and historians not only to study the connections between political and economic phenomena but also to reconstruct everyday life at the time. This is particulary true with the historical press publications of a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional urban settlement. In this respect Košice, the former free royal town, can be regarded as a prototype. Famous local publishing dynasties - the Landerer, Werfer and Ellinger families - are all an integral part of Hungarian-, Slovakian-, and German-language press history.
Periodicals - newspapers, journals, almanacs in Latin, German and Hungarian- available in the Digital Library are from the following libraries:
- Verejná knižnica Jána Bocatia v Košiciach/Jan Bocatius Public Library, Košice
-Institut für deutsche Kultur und Geschichte Südosteuropas/ Department of German Culture and History of South-East Europe Association, Munich
